University System of Georgia Foundation, Inc.
Statement of Purpose

The University System of Georgia Foundation, Inc. was formed on August 10, 1995 as a not for profit corporation under the applicable provisions of the Georgia Nonprofit Corporation Code.  The corporation was organized, and at all times shall be operated under the laws of the State of Georgia, to serve the needs and interests of the University System of Georgia.

The Foundation is governed by a Board of Trustees that includes at least three then serving members of the Board of Regents, and others with knowledge and commitment to public higher education and with access to businesses, groups, and individuals interested in promoting, encouraging, and supporting the charitable purposes and functions of the Foundation.   At no time shall Regents constitute more than one-third of the membership of the Board of Trustees.

The University System of Georgia Foundation, Inc. exists to:

• Provide support for system-wide activities that enhance the quality of instruction, research, and service in the University System of Georgia.
• Support activities at a system level that further the educational goals and objectives of the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia.
• Cultivate private grants for strategic priorities of the Board of Regents.  These grants are aimed at largely supporting campus activities in the selected areas.  The areas supported to date have been:
• The Pre-School-College (P-16) Initiative.
• Post-Secondary Readiness Enrichment Program.
• Study-Abroad Scholarships, a component of the International Education Initiative.
• Make grants and contributions and otherwise to render financial assistance and support services in furtherance of the purposes and functions of the University System of Georgia, as determined by the Board of Trustees.

Provide support for the office of the Chancellor of the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia in carrying out the purposes and functions of the Board of Regents
